Janey Verney

Janey spent a lot of childhood time out on the land, relating to trees, stones, birds, places & her imagination as much as to people, and didn’t learn till much later that this was the grounding for her shamanic path. As was an unstoppable joy in moving to music, and an equally heart-moving response to colour.

Indeed she only learned that the S-word summed it all up about a decade ago, since when her various shamanic teachers and colleagues have opened wonderful doors for her, and her Spirit Helpers continue to stretch and encourage her with their teachings.

She has a background in the FM Alexander Technique, and has studied and taught Chi Kung for over 20 years. This gentle form of movement and meditation nourishes her life and is a key element of her spiritual practice.

Janey is a practicing artist, working primarily as a spirit-led painter. Sometimes her oil paintings grow slowly, other times she feels the necessity to break out and work fast with quick-drying materials and monoprints. Always the process is based both on her experience of the land here and on guidance from the Spirit worlds. She loves her artwork to find its home with the right person.

She welcomes the honour of asking the Spirits for help for others, both as part of a circle of healers with the other Earthstar shamanic practitioners, and on a 1 to 1 basis; and also loves creating ceremonies for those who want to mark a significant moment or threshold in their lives.

Janey is currently developing a synthesis of the different strands of her work to teach sessions about shamanism, movement and colour at her beautifully converted stone barn. The first of these days will be held in October - see centre events - she also regularly puts images and thoughts on her blog.
