| ABERCYCH
Nick and Jan live in the North Pembrokeshire village of Abercych.
Abercych lies about 25 minutes northwest of Carmarthen and is about 2 -3 hours drive from Bristol. The nearest train station is in Carmarthen and there is not really a regular bus from there to Abercych so it is probably easiest to drive to attend teachings or workshops.
Abercych is a small rural village with a population of couple of hundred or so on the slopes of the valley above the river Cych which ends just west of the village where it enters the river Teifi which in turn enters the sea at the town of Cardigan some 10 miles away. The other local town is Newcastle Emlyn, which is a distance of about 6 miles to the Northeast.
Cwm Cych (the Cych Valley) is rich in folk lore, especially in it's upper reaches. It is the entrance to the 'otherworld' - the Land of the Fairies according to the early medieval Welsh book the Mabanogian, it contains several Bronze age barrows and was also the home of King Cadifor - a legendary ancient Welsh King. Stories tell of a secret cave somewhere at the top of the valley in which Cadifor and twelve of his warriors, clad in full armour, are said to lie sleeping ready to answer the call to return to "liberate" their fellow-countrymen in time of need
Abercych lies about 12 miles from the sea and both salmon and even a seal have been seen in the river Cych in the last couple of years.
The village lies about a 15 minute drive from the Preseli Mountains, and the large megalithic stones of Pentre Ifân.
Workshops and teaching days are held in either Nick or jan's houses and are none residential. A local B&B list is available.
